| Japan to reduce contributions to UN budget |

Japanese government is preparing to significantly reduce its participation in UN financing, but still Japan will remain second state after the US, according to the share in the budget of this world organisation. Tokyo's share in UN budget amounted 16.6% and the government plans to cut it by 12%, Japanese dailies read Monday. UN every three years reviews contributions to the budget by the member states. At present talks are led for 2010-2012 period. It is expected the US to remain with its largest share - 22% in the UN financing. Due to financial crisis the contributions from other leading industrial states as Britain, France, Germany will be reduced. |
