A
four-car crash in Skopje's municipality of Kisela Voda on Tuesday morning left
no injuries but caused extensive material damage.
The chain-reaction crash happened earlier today at Prvomajska Street just
opposite Tinex mall. One of the vehicles sustained serious damage.
The
crash started a chain reaction that affected three other vehicles, police said.
Skopje seems to be too small to handle the rising number of vehicles and
frequent traffic jams. According to statistical data by Interior Ministry, most
traffic accidents occurred in Skopje. Everyday's traffic congestion -
particularly in rush hour after 4 p.m. when cars remain stranded on the streets
in downtown city - becomes a nightmare for Skopje residents.
Most of reported car crashes in the first six months of 2009 took place in
Skopje (912). The accidents left 24 fatalities and 1,345 injured. Most rashes
fall into excessive speed accidents and non-compliance with traffic signs.
